Edom is a
community of about 350 population, only about 15 miles West of Tyler. It is in the
far
Eastern part of Van Zandt County. This area with its piney woods and rolling terrain
has become
somewhat an Artist's Community. With the convenience of Tyler so close-by, it
combines many
of the benefits of country living with city shopping and dining nearby. Edom is best
known
for it's
community of artists and craftsmen with shops in town, and a famous "home
cooking"
restaurant, The Shed, and well as couple of newer places, The Edom Market Place
and The Edom Bakery & Grill. The Shed is famous for "Southern Fried" food.
The
other two restaurants have more veggies and grilled fare & sandwiches. All
3 have
great desserts. Come early to have lunch or dinner. If you leave Edom
hungry, it will be your own fault!
Edom is part of the Van ISD.
