Van is a town of 2,150 population which is about 15 miles East of Canton and about
70 miles from Dallas.  It is known for being an Oil Center.  I have referred to this as
the Van Area because there are two other towns which attend the  Regional Van ISD,
but have their own identity and features of interest.

The revenues of the oil industry in this area are reflected in the excellent
facilities found in the Van Schools, which are rated Academically Acceptable for 2006 & 2007.
