Welcome
Welcome Our Towns Why United Country?

Welcome to Van Zandt County...
A Great Place to Visit...An Even Better Place to Live!!

Van Zandt County is the Gateway to East Texas...
As you leave the Dallas Metroplex to our West, you pass through Kaufman County and then
reach our borders.  Here the terrain becomes more varied and the trees become
more plentiful, the soil becomes more sandy, and the air is cleaner.

There are many reasons for moving to Van Zandt County.  The Primary reason is the Quality
of Life
.   See population statistics and comparisons on the "Our Towns" page for why lower
growth rate and lower population density can spell Better Quality of Life for you and your
Family.  The "Our Towns" Page also has links to individual towns and communities in Van
Zandt County, and information on the Excellent schools we have.

Another reason to move is Quality of the Investment.  For the cost of a city lot in the one of the
Suburbs, you can buy 10-20* acres for your home in Van Zandt County.  Land price varies based
on the number of acres purchased, location, accessibility, and type of land (pasture, trees, ponds, etc.).
An even better investment can be a preowned County Home on Acreage, built at a time when
construction and land were even less expensive.   Those properties may include many enhancements
including landscaping, accessory buildings, and ponds.  If you are interested in the long term investment
potential of Van Zandt County, check out the "Penturbia" Page on this site.

"Penturbia" refers to the counties all across America expected to experience increased property
values in the next 20 years, due to the 5th Population Migration.  The 4th migration was to the Suburbs,
the 5th is to the "Penturbs".  To find out more about this fascinating study and books and why Van Zandt
County is a premier Penturban County, check out the "Penturbia" Page on this site.

If you plan to commute to the Dallas area, you should know that the highway system
taking our commuters to the Dallas area, are among the best and least crowded roadways surrounding
the Dallas Metroplex.  See the "Why Move East?" Page on
The Country Connection site for
information on commuting to the Dallas area from Van Zandt County.

Worried about the loss of shopping convenience?  If you need big city shopping, you should
know that shopping in Mesquite or Tyler are available within less than an hour's drive from most
country homes in Van Zandt County.  Canton, for instance, is about 55 miles from Dallas, and 35 miles
from Tyler.  From Canton you can reach shopping and dining in the Mesquite area in about 50 minutes,
and in Tyler in about 35 minutes.  Tyler is a city of over 80,000 which includes most of the dining and
shopping conveniences of the Dallas Metroplex area without the congestion.
